Watch your pennies and your dollars will take care of themselves!I’ll bet you heard that “saying” a hundred times when you were growing up. You don’t hear it much any more though - shoot, these days most folks won’t pick up a penny laying on the sidewalk. . . Maybe we should change the denomination to nickles or dimes, or even quarters. But, be it pennys or quarters, the statement is still as true today as it was 50 – 60 years ago. Watch how you spend your pennies and you’ll not have to worry so much about your dollars.
One of the ongoing topic in this blog will be “A penny saved”. When we hear of cool ways to save a few pennies on regular ongoing puchases, we’ll pass them along to you, our blog community. So keep a pen and paper handy so that when you learn of a way to save a few pennies, write it down and share it with the rest of us. In the next few days I’ll tell you how to send your “comments” to me so we can share them with everyone else.
Meantime why don’t you check your area for a bakery outlet. Janie and I buy our bread at an Arnold’s outlet. Arnold 12 and 15 grain and whole wheat bread is $1.50 a loaf. Thomas English muffins and bagels are $1.50 a package. And if you put any of these items side by side with the same product purchased in a super market, you will not be able to tell the difference. We save at least a $150.00 a year on this one item. But we do plan our trips so that we don’t have to go very far out of our way to get to the outlet or the price of gas would eat up our savings.
