Stay Happy and Healthy in Retirement-Discover Your Purpose

Hi Folks,

Having a purpose in life is essential for a happy, healthy retirement!!! No questions, no arguments, no debate. It is just a simple,  irrefutable fact.

But a sad fact is that many people live their entire lives and never discover the importance of having a purpose or never finding one. Of course, as Carol Barrett points out in her article below, many of us were given a purpose when we were young whether we knew it or not, whether we liked it or not, or whether we fulfilled it or not.

How to Avoid a Failed Retirement

Hi Folks,

In our younger years we knew that if we failed in our career or business choices we had the time to bounce back and start over. And many of us did - we picked ourselves up, dusted ourselves off and started all over again. But now that we are in our senior years – we simply don’t have the time and stamina to recognize our mistakes and make a new start . . . well, at least not a completely new start.

Sort of scary, isn’t it? And a bit sad. A failed retirement is not an option!

Retirement – When Every Day’s A Weekend

Hi Folks,

As I have mentioned before in these pages I spend a great deal of time researching information about seniors and retirement and I also spend time observing retired folks – their actions and activities. Lately I have become increasingly more concerned with what I am seeing in the retirement community. This is probably nothing new, mind you, just a new awareness on my part.

I am seeing retirees age way beyond their years in just a few months. And for no obvious reason.

SENIOR LIVING: An Extraordinary Retirement

 Hi Folks,

Today’s article is directed primarily at pre retirees, encouraging them to prepare for an extraordinary retirement. But this message is just as important (and maybe more so) for seniors that have already retired.

So many of us enter retirement having no idea how we are going to use our time. I can tell you that the retirees I know who are involved in useful, worthwhile pursuits are a far happier lot than the ones that generally just twiddle their time away.

Getting The Most Out Of Your Retirement

Hi Folks,

Now that you have retired what are you going to do with the rest of your life?

I am a member of the group that believes that everyone has a purpose in life and that our purpose doesn’t end when we retire. In fact our retirement may be the time when our purpose really kicks in.

Is it time to examine your retirement life and your purpose in life. It may be time to start work on your legacy.

An Uncertain Retirement

Hi Folks,

In spite of the gloomy sounding title, the following article really is an encouraging and heads-up piece that warns that life for Boomers may not be as they have planned. But coping with change has always been the Boomers’ strong point. So, bring it on!

How to Ease Into Retirement

Hi Folks,

If you read both of my retirement blogs you will recognize the following article.  I published it on March 13th on Woody’s Retirement Blog, but as it is such an insightful little article I felt I should post it on this blog for those who do not read Woody’s Retirement Blog.

Adding Value After Retirement

Hi Folks,
How do people describe you when you aren’t around? ”Always helping others”, ”always learning something new”, “a useful member of society”, ”always making a difference”, ”great to have around”. Or do they use words like, always complaining, whining, criticizing, not very useful?
I’m afraid many retirees are not living the life they should. We find it easier to let others do the work while we just set around, finding fault and criticizing.
