Retirement Income

Hi Folks,

Oh what a beautiful spring we are having in Greenville. The azaleas are out in full bloom, days are warm and comfortable and a couple nice rains washed away all the pollen.

I’m trying to get my yard and gardens in good shape before it starts getting hot and so we can spend some time at the beach. So after I finish this post it back to the yard for me. icon smile Retirement Income

I’m a raised bed, square foot, and container garden enthusiast. It’s the most fun, low maintenance type of gardening going and I would like to hear from those of you who enjoy or are interested in this type of gardening.

How Will You Support Yourself In Retirement?

Are you struggling with your retirement income.

Hi Folks,

The following article by Jennifer Wirt offers some good advice for those who are retired as well as those who are considering retirement.

Financially, times are tough for retirees. I’m sure this causes those wanting to retire to have second thoughts. And rightfully so.

Job Interviewing After 50

Are you a senior looking for a job?

Hi Folks,

I have two friends looking for work. Both are seniors. One friend has been looking for only a few weeks – the other for almost two years. Both are well educated and experienced professionals. After sending out dozens (probably hundreds) of resumes and enduring multiple interviews, neither man has the promise of a job.

Your first thought was probably that these are tough times with double digit unemployment, but remember the companies that interviewd these men had job openings – they just didn’t hire these men. Age discrimination is against the law in the United States but you can bet that the HR people are well versed in using other terms to turn down senior job applicants.

Jobs For Retirees At Parks, Resorts, Lodges, Ranches

Hi Folks,

While I was doing some research for my other website www.ExtraIncomeEzine.com, I ran across a great site you just have to visit if you are considering an adventurist type job,  http://www.coolworks.com/. CoolWorks specialize in listing jobs in national and state parks, at resorts, lodges, etc, etc. The great thing is they have one section just for retirees called “Older and Bolder”, http://www.coolworks.com/older-bolder/. You have got to check this site out.

I passed this information on to Ivan who wrote, asking about vacationing/working/volunteering in our national parks. I hope he keeps us informed about how well he is doing.

Recovering Your Lost Retirement Funds

Hi Folks,

Did you lose a lot of your retirement savings during the recent economic downturn? Funny that the GOV created stemulus packages for the folks that lost our investments but no stimulus package for the losers!

Well, whatever! It’s still up to us to try to regain as much of our savings as we can. I think the number one key to a timely recovery is with a Certified Financial Planner. And don’t even stop to chat with someone that is not “certified”.

Baby Boomers Find Retirement Money on the Internet

Hi Folks,

Are you considering a second job or a business as a way to fill in your retirement money gap?

More and more retired and about to retire folks are finding a second job or starting their own small business. Cheryl Snider, today’s author, addresses this with an eye to baby boomers but her article is just as relevant to those that are older.

Incidently, I am also publishing this article on my other website, The Extra Income Ezine ( www.extraincomeezine.com ). If you are thinking about finding a second job, starting a small business, or becoming an independent agent come on over to The Extra Income Ezine and see what’s there.

Retirement Income

Hi Folks,

My wife bought me a lottery ticket for my birthday (I didn’t win) which got me thinking – what would I do if I won a million dollars?

I’m not the sort of fellow that can spend all day just foolin’ around. I’m hard wired to have a purpose and a mission. If I had a million or so dollars I wouldn’t have to look for ways to earn the extra money I need, and I could hire the work done that I now have to do because I cant afford to pay someone to do it.

I’ll bet there are lots of folks out there that are a lot like me, purpose and mission driven. For right now though, most of us don’t have to be concerned about having enough money to live on. In fact most of are looking for ways of earning a little extra money.
