NAPS ARE REALLY, REALLY GOOD FOR YOU!
Hi Folks,
I have been reading a lot about napping lately. It is such an interesting and important subject that I want to pass along some of the things I have learned and give you the links to some articles that go into real depth on the subject of napping. Of course if you are not interested in in-depth information on napping, you can just take my word that napping is good for you and go take a nap.
New scientific evidence shows that a midday nap not only improves your alertness, creativity, mood and productivity later in the day but also contributes to your overall health. . . And to think that for years in the USA naps have been looked upon as a sign of laziness and weakness!

Coffee May Treat & Prevent Memory Loss!
Hi All,
I just read a very interesting little item in the November, 2009 issue of Readers Digest (my favorite magazine) and want to pass it along to you folks.
According to the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, drinking five cups of coffee a day may treat as well as prevent memory loss! The study (in mice with Alzheimer’s symptons) shows that coffee directly reduces brain levels of amyloid proteins that characterize alzheimer’s.
This is especially good news for coffee lovers like me. . . Now where did I leave my coffee cup?

Great Advice from Dr. Oz
Hi Folks,
The September, 2009 issue of Reader’s Digest includes an interview with Dr Mehmet Oz, the regular & immensely popular guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show and author of You: The Owner’s Manual. One of the questions interviewer Camille Peri asked Dr Oz was what the two most important things people should do to keep themselves young. Here is his response:
“Walk. When you can’t walk a quarter mile in five minutes, your chance of dying within three years goes up dramatically. Second most important is building a community – avoiding isolation. Because if your heart doesn’t have a reason to keep beating, it wont.”

HEALTHY SENIORS – Let a Little Sunshine Into Your Life
Hi Folks,
I just came in from getting my daily half hour of sunshine. Well, it was actually more like two hours but I met my goal of spending a minimum of 30 minutes outside each day.
Quite some time ago I read that a person should get 15 – 30 minutes of sunshine each day to help maintain good health and a good mood. So now, unless I am sick or the weather is too bad, I’m outside for a nice spell every day. One thing that helps is I have a large yard to maintain so it gets me out most days.
The following article is taken from the April 4, 2009 issue of Early to Rise, a great little daily e-newsletter that I subscribe to. Read more…
