MAKING THE VERY BEST OF YOUR SENIOR YEARS

Hi Folks,

Though it drew little notice, the House voted Feb. 11 to create a national “Silver Alert” communications network, patterned after the Amber Alert system that spreads the word fast when a child goes missing. The Silver Alert  bill is “To encourage, enhance, and integrate Silver Alert plans throughout the United States, to authorize grants for the assistance of organizations to find missing adults, and for other purposes.”

Silver Alerts would be issued when any elderly person with Alzheimer’s or a similar condition wanders off. Such a system in Florida is credited with locating 37 missing seniors since October. The House authorized $5 million for state Silver Alert programs. The measure has now gone to the Senate for funding. That will take awhile.  :-)

Enjoy life, it’s your retirement,
Woody
