Hi Folks,
Retirement! What a wonderful time for getting involved in those activities and projects you have dreamed about for so many years.
- Taking up golf or handball or tennis.
- Traveling to all those exciting places that so capture your imagination.
- Learning to paint, sculpt, work with wood.
- Starting or joining a ministry or other nonprofit for helping or encouraging others.
- Starting that home business you have always wanted to try.

Hi Folks,
This post is for you folks who are not very tech savvy and/or have friends who are not very tech savvy. Boy! Do I have a great site for you! http://www.teachparentstech.org/watch
Google created this site for kids to e-mail how-to videos to their parents, grandparents and others about basic computer operations. But this is a great site for anyone wondering through the computer maze. So, watch the videos yourself and put your non-techy friends onto it by e-mailing the special form that you will find on the site, http://www.teachparentstech.org/watch (or just tell them about it
).

Hi Folks,
What are you up to today? Lunch with friends, catching a matinée, taking a nice walk, working in your garden, planning your next trip, dropping by a park to watch the kids play or maybe making a visit to the mall?
Sure are lots of things to do, aren’t there? Oh, being a senior is a such great time, especially if you are retired. Time to have more fun, be a kid again, get involved in some great causes, encourage others and on and on and on.

Hi Folks,
I have only a short little article for you today but hopefully what I’m going to tell you will help bring smiles to your face day after day for years to come!
Do you get tired of all the bad news, sad news, negative news and discouraging news that you hear and see every day? I know I do.
I am a big news fan. I love keeping up with what is happening in the world but honestly I don’t understand why the media folks have to only report the bad news. There is a lot of good news happening out there all the time but rarely does anyone tell us about it. What a shame.

Hi Folks,
Well, we just returned home from senior exercise (one hour sessions, three days a week). What a great bunch of seniors to exercise with, fellowship with and share with.
Today during our water break I mentioned how easy it would have been to stay home and take it easy. I took a fall on one of my exploring expeditions recently and I’m still sore. My comment turned the conversation to how we must keep pushing ourselves to stay active so that we can stay healthy.

Hi Folks,
The period for Medicare enrollment and changing plans has moved up several weeks this year. This year’s enrollment period is October 15 through December 7.
As it is so important to examine all the information and explore all the options available to you, start early so you won’t end up making a hasty decision you may regret.
As you will probably be inundated with information and conflicting advice about your options let me recommend the best place to start learning about Medicare: http://www.medicare.gov/default.aspx. You will be glad you started there.

Hi folks,
Have you gotten your flu shot this fall? Flu season is here you know and the flu can be really, really hard on us seniors.
Surprisingly, every year I hear seniors say they forgot to get their flu shot or that they don’t trust them or make some other excuse for taking a chance on catching this life threatening illness.

Hi Retiree,
Are you considering looking for a job or starting your own small business? Maybe you are already employed or self-employed. Perhaps you are heavily involved in your own or a larger ministry, charity or volunteer organization.
And maybe you are one of those retirees that have interests or family responsibilities that keep them so busy they look forward to time off.

Hi Folks,
Have you had your daily walk(s) today? If not are you planning one?
Seniors are becoming more and more aware of how important walking is to their good health but it’s hard to get excited about taking a walk when your feet are hurting. According to the U.S. National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) impairment of the lower extremities is a leading cause of inactivity in older people.
So what can we do? Well, it isn’t too late to start taking good care of our feet. Surprisingly our feet are pretty forgiving, even after all those years of neglect, if we begin taking good care of them.
