OLD FASHION CLOTHES DRYING
One of my neighbors is from Germany. A really nice lady with two fine sons (one is a doctor). Every since we have lived here (10+ years) I have noticed that on nice days she hangs her laundry to dry on a line in her back yard. It is one of those ”lines” that has four sides and is supported by a pole in the center. The line sets in a sunny spot close to her back porch. I have always contributed her drying her laundry outside to her German heritage. Recently, however, I read an article written by a lady who has discovered the pleasure of drying her laundry on an outside line. That article put drying laundry outside in a whole new light for me. Not only does your laundry smell really nice after drying in the sun (no dryer sheet smell) but you save a bunch on your electricity bill. I understand that it costs around 40 cents to dry a load of laundry (I’m going to do some research on this and report back to you). So if you hang out the equivalent of three dryer loads of laundry a week for 20 weeks a year, not only are you saving a minimum of $24.00, but you also get great smelling laundry, some fresh air and sunshine, and a chance to meet your neighbors
.
I hope you have a pleasant day,
Woody
