Smart household savings start in the laundry room
Hi Folks,
We just returned from a great trip to Boone, NC, with my senior’s group.
We toured Samaritans Purse, http://www.samaritanspurse.org/, ate a very special meal at Dan’l Boone Inn, http://www.danlbooneinn.com/, (a real feast served country style), and took in one of the country’s finest outdoor dramas, Horne In The West. We also visited the original Mast General Store, http://www.mastgeneralstore.com/valle_crucis.cfm, (established in 1883) in Valle Crucis, NC.

Saving Money on Food
Hi Folks,
I’ve just returned from running a few errands and picking up a couple items from the bread store. I bought a loaf of whole grain bread and a package of bagels for the grand total of $3.00.
I’ve mentioned before that you should check to see if there is a bakery outlet in your city. If there is one you can save a lot on your bread purchases. The outlet nearest me sells Arnolds and Thomas as well as other brands. Bread and pastry items this outlet sells are fresh and never out of date so why should I pay $3.50 – $3.85 for a loaf of whole grain bread that I can buy for $1.50.

Buying Clothing on a Budget
Hi Folks,
I cannot remember the last time my wife paid full price for her clothing. She has a closet (actually two closets) full of very nice clothing and shoes for which she paid a fraction of the retail price. And the fun part for her in getting great clothing at great prices is the “hunt”.
Most retired folks have to budget for everything but that doesn’t mean you have to do without. But you do have to be a good “hunter” like my wife. The following article tells of some places to begin your hunt.

Conserving Energy
Hi Folks,
People living in industrialized countries have grown so accustomed to a plentiful supply of relatively cheap energy that we pretty much take it for granted. We seem to only pay attention to our use of energy when we find ourselves having to cut costs due to job loss, additional expenses, retirement, etc. Fortunately we are becoming more aware of the importance of conserving energy. We are learning that our resources are not unlimited and that their use is causing harm not only to our cities but to our world. So, whether you want to conserve energy to save money, help save our environment or both, the following are some areas where you can begin.
I hope you are having a nice day,
Woody
