How to keep your car running for years

Hi Folks,

Are you one of those retirees looking for ways to keep your car for as long as possible? . . . Me too.

If you’re like me, back when you were working, you traded your cars every few years so you didn’t give much thought to trying to keep them running for 200,000 – 300,00o miles. Well, that’s all changed. Now it’s a necessity.

Saving with Coupons

Hi Folks

Coupons have been a big part of frugal retirement living for a long time and I see now that they may be catching on with main stream buyers as well with more and more coupon providers coming on line.

Janie and I save quite a bit watching sales and using coupons but not nearly as much as we could and should. But with prices going up daily and our income staying the same we are going to have to start paying better attention.

The Five Minute Guide to Frugal Living

Hi Folks,

What’s the difference between being frugal and being a cheapskate? Common sense, I’d say.

I know folks that are cheap to a fault, not because they have to be but because that is just the way they are. And I know people who are frugal because they have to be.

Most of my friends are frugal because they have to be. They watch what they spend and save where they can so that they can give themselves an occasional trip, vacation or other luxury. And they are a pretty happy lot.

Frugal Living: Am I Ready?

 Hi Folks,

These days “Frugal living” isn’t the quaint little phrase that we used to pass around in casual conversations. It’s pure realism for many of us.

Coupon Websites

Hi Folks,

I have a couple coupon sites for you to check out.

One site I use all the time is Groupons. Groupons has a deal every day and you must buy the deal that day as it expires at midnight.

I have only used Groupons for restaurants but I see lots of other excellent deals for other types of stores. Today’s deal is for 52% off of an all day pass to Climb Upstate, a rock climbing adventure place. Yesterday’s deal was 60% off of a cooking class and winery tour at Inn of the Patriots in Grover, NC. So you see there are all sorts of Groupons.

How To Save Money With Car Maintenance

Hi Folks,

Until my retirement seven years ago I purchased a new car every five years and kept it ten years, leap frogging each of my two cars so that one of my cars was never more than five years old and my  ”second” car was ten years old when I traded it.

Maintaining a car for ten years is relevantly easy although the closer I got to the ten year mark the more little things required repairs.
