Is There an Ideal Age to Retire?

Ann Harrison, today’s author, has a unique question for us: is there an ideal age to retire?
I always thought that 65 was the best time to retire but now I know that I arrived at that age from when retirement was mandatory in the USA and that age was 65.
I always targeted 65 as my retirement age but I didn’t quite make it – I had to wait until I was half past 67 for all my stars to cross (read that “I didn’t have quite enough savings to retire on).
