Happy in Retirement?
Hi Folks,
I have another important and thought provoking article for today’s retiree. So I am excited that you found this page and I hope you take the time to read this great little article and start applying it to your life.
In retirement, as in all the other phases of our lives, we should take time to step back and review our life as it is and determine if there is not some changes we could make that would make out lives better. unfortunately many folks never made this a practice in their work-a-day world and so will find it a little more difficult in retirement. But if you want to be a “third road traveler”, as today’s author calls it, today is an excellent day to begin your trip.

Retirement – Revisiting/Redefining
Hi Folks,
Please welcome Cathering Murphy, today’s author and one of us who does not accept the definition of retirement and ( may I add ) terms like retirement age.
Our senior years and retirement should be reward years - our reward for working and raising our families, and providing for their needs and doing all the other things that had to be done. Our rewards should be free time and opportunities to do the things we want to do, try the things we want to try and learn the things we want to learn. Not years of setting around worrying and having a gazillion other unhappy thoughts.

Online Dating For Seniors
Hi Folks,
If you have ever wondered if seniors are interested in meeting “someone” online you only have to Google “seniors online dating sites”. There must be a lot of young-at-heart seniors interested in online dating if the number of senior online dating services is any indication.
If you are considering online dating the following article by Joshua Martindale is a great place to begin. It is a short read but provides plenty of things to think about.

LAUGHTER – THE INSTANT VACATION
Hi Folks,
If laughter is so healthy and such an important part of our lives why do we laugh so little? I read somewhere that children laugh 300-400 times a day, but as adults many of us laugh as little as 15 times a day. Sort of sad isn’t it? Like not taking you heart medication.
Well seniors, as of today let’s all make a resolution to laugh our heads of at least once a day, silly, giggly, eyes watering, belly hurting laughter. I’ll bet it makes us healthier by the end of the month.

Got the Blues? Eat a Banana.
Hi Folks,
A recent article in Bottom Line/Personal ( Feeling Blue? Try Bananas -http://www.bottomlinepublications.com/content/article/diet-a-exercise/feeling-blue-try-bananas) reports that bananas help fight depression and mentions a couple other benefits such as fighting heartburn. So I thought I would look into this a bit further and pass the results along to you.
Well, I can tell you that there are a multitude of reports and study results out there on the healthy benefits of eating bananas. Most of the reports, articles and advice contain the same basic information and it all confirms that bananas are good for you and that they can help you fight depression.

5 Golden Rules For Things To Do In Retirement
Hi Folks,
It’s been a while since I have printed an article by Susan Kersley. Shame on me. This doctor turned life coach has so many encouraging words of wisdom to pass on to us seniors that I should publish an article a week written by her.
In this article she is directing her words to folks that have not yet retired but truth is these “5 golden rules for things to do in retirement” apply just as much to retirees as to pre-retirees.

Make Retirement a Positive Experience
Hi Folks,
I hope you are having a good day.
Janie and I are getting ready to go out for a late lunch with friends. There are a couple great buffets that we rotate every week or so. The afternoon senior crowd gets a huge discount and free drink up until 3:00. Now you can’t beat that. And both of these restaurants (Ryan’s and Golden corral) have wonderful salad bars. So Janie and I have a late lunch/early dinner and therefore don’t have to fix an evening meal and we have great fellowship with our friends.
Luncheons with friend, movies with friends, walks downtown with friends and all sorts of outings (with friends of course
) are part of our making our retirement a positive experience.

HAPPY NEWS, GOOD NEWS, POSITIVE NEWS AND FUN NEWS
Hi Folks,
I have only a short little article for you today but hopefully what I’m going to tell you will help bring smiles to your face day after day for years to come!
Do you get tired of all the bad news, sad news, negative news and discouraging news that you hear and see every day? I know I do.
I am a big news fan. I love keeping up with what is happening in the world but honestly I don’t understand why the media folks have to only report the bad news. There is a lot of good news happening out there all the time but rarely does anyone tell us about it. What a shame.

SENIOR LIVING: An Extraordinary Retirement
Hi Folks,
Today’s article is directed primarily at pre retirees, encouraging them to prepare for an extraordinary retirement. But this message is just as important (and maybe more so) for seniors that have already retired.
So many of us enter retirement having no idea how we are going to use our time. I can tell you that the retirees I know who are involved in useful, worthwhile pursuits are a far happier lot than the ones that generally just twiddle their time away.
