Get help paying for your hearing aid.

Hi Folks,

I have a severe hearing problem! Although my family and friends are kind and don’t complain, I’m sure it drives them crazy.

Before I retired, I purchased a very expensive pair of hearing aids. They did not solve my problem. My audiologist even sent me to the specialists at the factory in San Diago, CA. Still no help.  It’s so frustrating. Many times if I can’t figure out what is being said I just pretend that I hear.  :-) Sound familiar to those of you that don’t hear well?

There is a new type of digital hearing aid called an “open fit” hearing aid that doesn’t plug up the ear canal. I understand that folks are having much better results with these aids.

How Will You Support Yourself In Retirement?

Are you struggling with your retirement income.

Job Interviewing After 50

Are you a senior looking for a job?

Hi Folks,

I have two friends looking for work. Both are seniors. One friend has been looking for only a few weeks – the other for almost two years. Both are well educated and experienced professionals. After sending out dozens (probably hundreds) of resumes and enduring multiple interviews, neither man has the promise of a job.

Your first thought was probably that these are tough times with double digit unemployment, but remember the companies that interviewd these men had job openings – they just didn’t hire these men. Age discrimination is against the law in the United States but you can bet that the HR people are well versed in using other terms to turn down senior job applicants.

HAITIAN EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FRAUD ALERT

HAITIAN EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FRAUD ALERT

01/13/10—The FBI today reminds Internet users who receive appeals to donate money in the aftermath of Tuesday’s earthquake in Haiti to apply a critical eye and do their due diligence before responding to those requests. Past tragedies and natural disasters have prompted individuals with criminal intent to solicit contributions purportedly for a charitable organization and/or a good cause.

Therefore, before making a donation of any kind, consumers should adhere to certain guidelines, to include the following:

How Seniors Can Improve Their Brain

Hey Senior, have you exercised your brain today?

 Hi Folks,

You may have heard me say this before but I’ll say it again:  Seniors, you must exercise your body and you must exercise your brain if you want to remain physically and mentally fit.

This has been proven so often and in so many ways that it is ridiculous to even think about question this fact. Yet I have friends that make every excuse they can think of to not exercise or  learn new things.  Then they complain about not feeling well and being sooo forgetful.

SENIORS – MAKING YOUR HOME SAFER

How Safe is Your Home?

Hi Folks,

Let’s face it, as we get older our homes need some renovations to make them safer. Activities that we once took for granted  like fixing meals, taking showers, and hurrying from room to room require a little more caution now.

But most of us are so independed minded that we don’t want to admit that we need some special safety features like grab bars and walk in showers . . . until we have an accident.

SENIORS, HOW TO BE HEALTHIER IN 2010

Senior Exercise = Healthy Seniors

Hi Folks,

I never fail to be amazed at seniors that refuse to exercise even though it is a proven fact that exercise adds quality and quantity to our senior years.

We have an exercise program for seniors in my church with a leader that is dedicated to senior health. He’s in his upper seventies and in better shape than most men 25 years younger. We exercise three days a week, have the best ole time you can imagine, and there is no charge, but do you know what? Even though we have a large senior church membership we have less than 20 church members in our group (we do have several members in our group that are not members of our church).
