SAVE MONEY WITH PROGRAMMABLE THERMOSTATS
Hi Folks,
I just finished reprogramming the programmable thermostat on my furnace/air conditioner. I think I messed up the settings when I kept flipping it back to manual this fall when we occasionally wanted the house little warmer than the auto-thermostat was set for.
Talk about a money saver! A programmable thermostat will cost between $30.00 and $100.00 and can save you well over $100.00 a year.

Give Gifts That ‘Pay It Forward’
Hi Folks,
Well, we attended our first Christmas party of the year yesterday evening. It was fun. Getting together with family and friends is always great but when it’s with special, long time friends it is even better.
Now, it’s confession time. I am absolutely awful at choosing good and thoughtful gifts. I dread shopping for gifts because I don’t know what to buy, so I’m always looking for good ideas.

4% Retirement Spending Limit
Hi Folks,
Just a friendly little reminder to all retirees:
Most retirees have been advised that to ensure we will not run out of money during our retirement years we should not withdraw more than 4% of our retirement savings annually.
According to a December 3, 2009 article in Financial Planning ( http://www.financial-planning.com/ ) almost half of all households over age 65 are drawing more than 4% of their retirement income in order to maintain their standard of living. The article, by Ruthie Ackerman, stated that “if this trend continues retirees may find that their income may not be sufficient to last throughout retirement.”
