Enjoying the Benefits of Gardening
Hi Folks,
I dearly love gardening and working in my lawn. I’m not very good at it, but I do enjoy it.
Up until four years ago I always had a nice size garden but after I retired Janie and I began taking long trips in early spring - the time when gardens need the most attention. So rather than come back to the disappointment of finding my garden in ruin I let the garden plot grow back into lawn.

Make Plans For July 4th
Hi Folks,
I’m sorry that I have been absent for the past few days. I’ve been building a new garden shed and it has taken most of my time and attention. I’ll try my best to get back on track - - there is so much to talk about.
This Saturday is Independence Day – The 4th of July, one of the most important days of the year for this old flag waving, “I love America” guy.

Clear the Clutter to Improve Your Retirement
Hi Folks,
Are you one of those people that crave an organized life but fall way short of obtaining it? I am. I work really, really hard at trying to organizing my life but something always seems to go wrong.
My buddy came over the other evening and was checking out some of the projects I was working on and made the remark “I thought you had a workbench!” Very funny. Where do you think my projects were that he was looking at? It’s is even worse than you think.

Financial Exploitation of Senior Citizens
Hi Folks,
Presently I’m putting together a website about Identity Theft and ways to protect yourself. I’ll have the site up and running in the next few days and will give you the URL, but meanwhile building a website of this nature takes a lot of work – researching, reading and writing.
Today while rummaging through the vast information library called the internet I run across the following article about the financial exploitation of seniors. In my opinion, it takes the scum of the earth to pray on the old and feeble but I’m afraid there is lots of scum out there so be very cautious. Keep watch over aging relatives and friends, you may prevent them from suffering a lot of humiliation, hurt and financial ruin.

All the seniors were learning ‘Cane Fu’ fighting
Hi Folks,
I found this article in THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH (Columbus, Ohio) and it really caught my attention and tickled my funny bone. But then after reading the article through I realized what a great self defense these folks have developed. Cane Fu, may the force (of a good sturdy cane) be with you.

WD-40 and Senior Handymen
As a lot of you know I’m not a young man any more. But there aren’t many days that I’m not out at my workbench fixing something, making something or just tinkering. Three supply items that I always keep at my bench are duct tape, Gorilla Glue, and WD-40. With those three items most of us senior handymen can fix almost anything
Today’s post is a list of some of the things you can do with WD-40. I don’t think anyone has developed a complete list of the things WD-40 can do, but here are a few.

ACTIVE SENIORS – Golf Tips For The Senior Golfer
Hi Folks,
Last week my “Retirement On A Budget” site decided to throw a fit and go on strike. So I moved on over to my “Woodys Retirement Blog” until I could figure what was up with this one. I was real excited about Friday’s post for senior golfers so I am re-posting it on here in “Retirement On A Budget”.
I must admit that I don’t know much about golf. But that’s OK because most of my friends are golfers (and good golfers at that, so they tell me
) so I’m sure they will keep me straight on everything I publish about golf.

HEALTHY SENIORS – Let a Little Sunshine Into Your Life
Hi Folks,
I just came in from getting my daily half hour of sunshine. Well, it was actually more like two hours but I met my goal of spending a minimum of 30 minutes outside each day.
Quite some time ago I read that a person should get 15 – 30 minutes of sunshine each day to help maintain good health and a good mood. So now, unless I am sick or the weather is too bad, I’m outside for a nice spell every day. One thing that helps is I have a large yard to maintain so it gets me out most days.
The following article is taken from the April 4, 2009 issue of Early to Rise, a great little daily e-newsletter that I subscribe to. Read more…
