I have a couple neat little things for you today.
First, there is a Readers Digest.com blog post you should read entitled Two (and a half) Personality Traits That Keep You Alive Longer. This article by Lisa Davis is about the Boston University School of Medicine’s New England Centenarian Study, a study of a group of very long-lived people (subjects have to be at least 100 (or 102 for women), or the sibling, spouse, or child of a centenarian). You really should take a couple minutes to read this intersting little article. How to Make Money During Retirement

Hi Folks,
These economic hard times have been playing havock with my retirement nest egg (which wasn’t all that large to begin with). :-) What’s your economic outlook look like? A lot of retired folks are looking for suplimental income but frankly there aren’t a whole lot of part time and full time jobs out there for seniors.
Have you been considering going back into the work force? My April 11 post was about creating your own little business of some sort http://www.retirement-on-a-budget.com/how-to-create-income-streams-in-retirement.htm and that still appears to be the best solution.

SPENDING YOUR $250.00 STEMULOUS PAYMENT
Hi Folks,
Back on March 27th I talked about the goverment’s one-time payment of $250.00 to individuals who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security benefits that is part of President Obama’s Stimulous Package.
Well, I checked again today and everything must still be on target as there were no changes posted to the website (http://www.socialsecurity.gov/payment/). Here is the main paragraph copied from the site: “Beginning in early May, and continuing throughout the month, more than 52 million beneficiaries will be issued one-time payments of $250. We expect everyone who is entitled to a payment to receive it by late May 2009. No action is required on your part. Please do not contact us about your payment unless you do not receive it by June 4, 2009″

There are few of us that have not been affected in some way by this financial mess we are presently in. The thing that bothers me most is the way everyone is pointing fingers and blaming everyone else. Shame on us. What a wonderful opportunity some folks had to show what real leadership is and go about fixing the things that are broken without telling the world who caused it. ’nuff said.
