FREE CREDIT REPORTS

IS IT COMPLICATED OR IS IT ME?

Hello,

Today was sort of a bummer for me! First, Janie and I missed exercise and it was entirely my fault. Then we had planned to do our Wednesday shopping right after lunch but we had to wait for the plumber. So Janie took a nap and I started work on my next blog post. And that was when my day really got ruined!

For today’s post I thought it would be good if I ordered my free Credit Report and explain to my readers how it’s done.

COMPUTERS ARE GOOD FOR YOUR MIND

Hi Folks,

I love computers and I love the internet. I spend hours each day on my computer, I can’t imagine life without one.

I use my computer to keep a journal, our family budget, write letters, and to create booklets, manuals, and handouts. I use it to keep up on the local and world news, maintain this blog (and some other little enterprises), email family and friends, and do research. I even use it to reserve DVDs from the library. I am a member of several forums and membership groups and I have a fantastic collection of ebooks. I could go on and on. icon smile COMPUTERS ARE GOOD FOR YOUR MIND

Please don’t get me wrong, I’m not a geek. Far from it. I struggle with my computer and everything connected with it and to it every day, but that doesn’t keep me from using and enjoying it.

PARKING LOT SAFETY

Hey Folks,

My neighbor had a fender bender in the Wal-Mart parking lot the other day. He said the young lady that hit him was driving really fast and that his fender was mangled, so he called the police because he thought her insurance should pay for the repair. When the policeman investigated the accident, he said the accident was my neighbors fault because he had pulled out in front of the young lady. No matter that she was driving way too fast!

Not too long ago I was in a shopping center parking lot when someone ran their car into a shopping cart that had not been returned to the cart corral. The thing came zooming into the side of my car causing a lot of damage that was expensive to repair.

SAVE $ ON YOUR HEAT BILL THIS WINTER

Hello,

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, you can easily save 5% – 15% on your heating bill this winter by setting your thermostat to 68° F while you’re awake and turning it down an additional 10°-15° (for 8 hours)while you are asleep or away.

For me that would average $4.00 – $12.00 a month. A nice savings but I’m not sure how easy that will be. I’m cold natured, to me anything below 70° is cold. My wife, who burns up at 70°, says I have snake blood. But I will give it a try. Keeping my house just a little cooler during the day will help some. And those $2.00 – $3.00 savings each month on a lot of items really add up.

TURN DOWN YOUR WATER HEATER THERMOSTAT

Hey Folks,

A couple weeks ago I had to replace our water heater. Yikes, that’s expensive! I’m sure glad we had our “emergency fund” set up for occasions like that.

I love hot water. I have always kept the thermostat set to around 140 degrees, but allas, all things must come to an end. So I ask the guys installing the new heater to set the thermostat to 120 degrees F. Well, it has taken a couple weeks to get used to the new lower water temperature but now I’m OK with it.

Turning down your water heater from 135-140 to 120 will save you an average of $2.00 a month. This falls into the “a penny saved” catagory but like they say, “Watch your pennies and your dollars will take care of themselves”.

SMILE – LET’S GO BACK TO 1955

“I’ll tell you one thing, if things keep going up the way they are, it’s going to be impossible to buy a week’s groceries for $20.00.”

“Have you seen the new cars coming out next year? It won’t be long before $2,000.00 will only buy a used one.”

“Did you hear the Post Office is thinking about charging a dime just to mail a letter.”

HOME SECURITY ALARM SYSTEM

Hi Folks,

Let’s talk about a security alarm system that you probably already have at your home, that requires no installation and works great.

Please listen closely. This should not be one of those things you read and say “That’s good”, and then forget all about. You need to put this into effect tonight.

PUT YOUR CAR KEYS BESIDE YOUR BED AT NIGHT!

SAVING MONEY AT THE GROCERY STORE – Part 1

Hello,

I understand that there is a lot of belt tightening going on among us retirees these days. For some, this is an ongoing problem, caused by not having adequate income compounded by the financial meltdown. For others, who generally have enough income, the cause of the belt tightening is our current financial crises cutting down on their 401k payments.

Surprising enough, this financial mess was also a wakeup call for many when they discovered that they had not been in very good financial shape for some time but had not taken the time to see how not-so-well they were doing. (The old head in the sand syndrome)
